Adamsdown Primary School

(Centenary Mural)

This large-scale mural was created at Adamsdown Primary School in Cardiff to celebrate the school’s centenary.

The design was developed through activities with pupils, who were invited to share ideas about what matters to them. Their drawings and concepts shaped the final mural, bringing together themes of friendship, growth, identity and school life, alongside elements such as class identities, the Welsh dragon, their school mascot “Globie”, and references to the Urdd.

The final piece is bright, playful and rooted in the voice of the children, reflecting the character and diversity of the school community.

The mural was delivered within a short timeframe and installed onto a challenging brick surface, requiring careful preparation to achieve a strong and lasting finish.

Unveiled as part of the school’s 100-year celebrations, the project stands as a permanent, pupil-led artwork within the school environment.
